Restoration Activities
ImageThough much of the area near the trails has now been cleared and re-vegetated with native plants, there are still large parts of the Woods covered with invasive ivy, holly, laurel and blackberries. Monthly work parties continue to focus on removal and re-vegetation, mulching, weeding and other maintenance. Please consider taking a few hours out of your Saturday to roll up your sleeves and help.  Dig your hands into the earth, haul a few wheelbarrows full of mulch, tear out those nasty ivy vines.  You'll feel great for pitching in!  See our volunteer page for upcoming work party details.
Environmental Education Activities
ImageSt. Therese sixth graders help with the restoration as part of their environmental education. Madrona Woods adult volunteers work and learn with them (See Environmental Education). If you would like to join the volunteer team working with these students, contact Penny McCormick at pmccorm at sccd dot ctc dot edu or call her at 206-937-5586. Madrona Middle School sixth graders will also be visiting the Woods four times during the 2005-2006 school year, and Seattle Girls School will be offering internships in Madrona Woods. To find out more, contact Deirdre McCrary at jaymccrary at bronline dot com or call at 325-9035.
